Yahala Bakery
Finally! I've been by the beautiful German bakery on a few rides through and around Clermont...but never been with a group of people that were interested in stopping and sampling. Today, I was lucky and the whole ride was organized to ride TO the bakery, stop and get a snack, before riding home!
The 9:30am start time was pushed back until 10:00am...waiting for people to arrive and get their bikes squared away. Fortunately, I don't have anything to hurry to after morning training so I wasn't too concerned by the delay. It was a beautiful day in Central Florida and I was thankful that I had my sunscreen on!
The pace of the ride gradually picked up on the way out to the bakery. Our path took us through some of the big hills at a steady clip so I rolled into the parking lot dripping in sweat! What an array of treats...it's a German Bakery and they sure know what they are doing! Pretzels, chocolate, fruit tarts, and lots and lots of BREAD! If I wasn't on my bike, 90 minutes from home, I would have purchased a big, beautiful loaf to share with friends, family, and of course myself:)
On the way home, we took a different route...flatter and at a more conversational pace. At the end of the morning we'd pedaled 50 miles and I enjoyed every moment! Tomorrow starts another week...the swimmers and coach of the local team will be back from their meet and I'll have a team to train with! Koren pointed out a lot of new roads for me to test on my wandering bike rides...I'll finally have something other than my one repetitive loop:). As for my third sport...running...I'm still out of commission due to my stupid foot injury but I remembered my aqua-jogging gear from home so I can get back to it!
Tomorrow morning my Dad and fellow DeLand cyclist, Chad, are driving down to meet me for another ride. I think we are going to depart from Waterfront Park, again at 9:30am, because it's a good location and a nice time (the roads are very quiet between 9am and 11am when normal people are stuck working in offices). I will report on that ride when I am recovered later in the day.
